This slide shows the effect of varying the divergence slit on intensity. There is little difference between 0.2 and a variable slit at low angles, but the 0.3 slit shows little change in intensity for the first 3 peaks indicating that this slit is illuminating the whole specimen at low angles.
Note: the scans have been deliberately offset in 2 theta to show the differences, hence the scale in data points.
